How to turn Darc on, what to do when a site looks wrong, and how to reach us.

Turn on Darc on iPhone and iPad

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go to Apps > Safari > Extensions > Darc.
  3. Turn on Allow Extension.
  4. Set Other Websites to Allow, so Darc can theme every site.
  5. Open any website in Safari. The Darc app shows that the extension is running once it has themed a page.

You can also reach the same place from Safari: tap the page menu button in the address bar, then Manage Extensions. In the Darc app, Open Safari Extensions takes you to Darc's page in Settings.

Turn on Darc on Mac

  1. Open the Darc app once.
  2. In Safari, choose Safari > Settings, then click Extensions.
  3. Tick the checkbox next to Darc.
  4. Click Edit Websites and set Other Websites to Allow.

A site looks wrong

Open the site in Safari and tap or click Darc's button in the toolbar. The menu has three options for the site you are on:

If theming goes wrong on a page, for example text that becomes hard to read, Darc removes what it added and the page goes back to how the site built it.

A short white flash when a page starts loading comes from Safari, which paints its own placeholder before the page exists. No extension can restyle that placeholder.

Why Safari asks for website access

When you allow Darc, Safari warns that the extension can read and alter web pages. Safari shows that warning for every extension that changes how pages look. To restyle a page, Darc has to read its colours and styles. It does that inside Safari on your device. Darc has no servers, and it never sends page content or browsing history anywhere. The privacy policy has the details.

Restore your purchase

Darc Forever is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple Account, and it covers iPhone, iPad and Mac. On a new device, or after reinstalling, open the Darc app, go to the Help tab and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you bought it with.

Purchases and refunds are handled by Apple. To ask for a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com.
